We Were Young Once Exhibition
Come and explore Blue Knob Gallery's first exhibitions of 2025. Relics V Mapping Time & Place by Renita Glencross in on in the The Solo Space. Renita studied textiles at University and for the past 40 years has travelled far and wide seeking the advice of master weavers and traditional dyers, researching the botany and alchemy for preparing fibres and extracting natural colour to create unique stitched and woven wearable art and ceremonial objects. The Relics are a collection of layered mixed media images, ceramic and woven glyphs, sigils, and natural ephemera incorporated in weaving, felting and stitching. The works build on previous exhibitions based on journey’s the artist has made between the desert, the sea and the forest and all the learnings in-between. 'We were young once' exhibition is a journey into the artists lives and gives a glimpse into how they came to be artists/artisans. Many came to art practice at different times in their lives. For some it may have been part childhood and continued throughout their lives. For others it may have been something that was dreamt of, an unfulfilled dream or desire that came about later in life. Artists were asked to bring in an image of their ‘younger selves” with a few words to go alongside their artworks. Event held in 719 Blue Knob Road, Blue Knob, NSW 2480

Artexpress
Artexpress 2025 presents a selection of outstanding bodies of work submitted for the 2024 HSC examination for Visual Arts by New South Wales students. The Visual Arts Stage Six Syllabus directs students to create bodies of work that represent their intention as artists and reflects or references a critical understanding of the art world. The works on display in this exhibition use a wide variety of expressive approaches and media underpinned by rich conceptual themes. From the late 1950s Artexpress has showcased the artistic orientation of young people and is a testament to their teachers across the state. This year Lismore Regional Gallery is pleased to present local student artists from the region – from Ballina Coast, Banora Point, Byron Bay, and Cape Byron Rudolf Steiner schools – in addition to those from far and wide NSW. The result is an inspiring and diverse survey of the next generation’s creative talent. Event held in 11 Rural Street, Lismore, NSW 2480
