About the Event
About
Retro Riff 2024 features over 30 assemblage art guitars, photos and a soundtrack by Les Toth, a veteran of the Melbourne club scene. Toth has worked as DJ, bodyguard to touring rock acts, model and collector. His colourful life is reflected in his art.
See Toth's exhibition in a small gallery space behind the Cyril Callister Museum, which celebrates the life, work and legacy of the Australian scientist who invented Vegemite. To celebrate, Toth has crafted a Vegemite-inspired guitar which he has gifted to the museum.
Retro Riff 2024 continues at the Cyril Callister Museum until February 2. It coincides with the Art Gallery of Ballarat's Medieval to Metal exhibition.
The Cyril Callister Museum hosts monthly Fab Friday events where participants can enjoy live music while they learn to make their own art guitars.
Local folk blues duo Runaway Strings will perform at the Friday November 15 event. Bookings are essential via email.
Further Friday events will be held on Friday 6 December (5pm to 8pm) and Friday 24 January. (2pm - 8pm)
Attendees can follow up with a meal from a delicious set i-riff set menu at Magnolia's Wine Bar and Cafe. Bookings are a must.
