About

Open Gardens Victoria will open Mornington Peninsula garden Tahree for the first time. Set on approximately five acres in Dromana, this is a young indigenous and native garden, created with a focus on land management, revegetation, and the encouragement of small bird habitat. Set in the heart of the Mornington Peninsula’s wine country, owners Chris and Brian Coleman retired to Tahree in 2018, transforming a rundown poultry farm into their very own slice of paradise. The once overgrown creek area has been renewed (with the support of a Melbourne Water Grant) into an oasis for waterbirds, using indigenous plantings suitable for the area. A copse of Blackwoods stands on the far side of the dam, and koala food trees such as Peppermint, Coastal Manna, and Swamp gums line the walking path that curves along the creek bed. At the back of the house there is a citrus orchard, multiple vegetable gardens that are always full of seasonal foods, as well as a large chicken house and two hothouses. There will be a coffee van and places to sit and relax if visitors want to bring their own picnic. There will also be toilets on-site. Entry Cost All tickets $6 - Adults $10, Students $6 (with ID card), under 18 free
