About
The Charlton Lawn Tennis Club, (Australia's oldest regional tennis club; formed in 1881) holds an annual three day tennis tournament, around the Australia Day holiday, on 16 excellent grass courts. There are Open, A, B, C and D grades in each event of mens and ladies singles, mens and ladies doubles and mixed doubles. A changing partners doubles event is provided on the singles day for those who do not wish to play singles.
Mixed doubles is all played on one day (all five grades of finals played under lights), mens and ladies doubles on another day and singles and changing partner doubles, on the other day; all events are on a round robin format, guaranteeing everyone a great weekend of tennis.
The club has excellent facilities, an extensive shade area fully enclosed by a child-proof fence, with all catering provided over the weekend. The tournament has a friendly family atmosphere and Charlton is located on the Calder Highway and on either side of the Avoca River.
Accommodation is provided by a bed and breakfast, two motels, two hotels, an en-suite caravan park and a caravan/tent park. There are a number of coffee/eatery options.
Come and enjoy a relaxing weekend in the country.
