About
The Thorpdale Potato Festival is one of Victoria's most iconic regional festivals. Located in the fertile soils of the Strzelecki Ranges, visitors flock to the idyllic West-Gippsland hamlet of Thorpdale bi-annually to celebrate the areas rich farming history and its main export - the humble spud.
Whether you are wanting to try your hand at the many spud-related events - potato picking, stacking, throwing and eating, or be entertained by woodchopping, sheepdog trials and sheep shearing demonstrations, there is something for everyone. This year will also see the return of our iconic "Hessians on the Field" event - where entrants are judged on outfits made exclusively from hessian or potato sacks (see the website for entry details).
To complement the farm attractions, the event will have over 60 food and market stalls selling the regions best food and handmade goods, as well as a farmer's market showcasing the best produce of the region. With an array of free kids attractions such as motorbike stunt demonstrations, jumping castles and much more, there is something for the whole family.
