About the Event
About
Renowned American composer William Basinski brings his haunting soundscapes to Tasmania for a one-night-only performance at the Ian Potter Recital Hall. Best known for his iconic The Disintegration Loops, Basinski’s use of analogue tape loops and obsolete technology explores themes of memory, time, and the fleeting nature of existence. His work has been celebrated worldwide, with performances at prestigious venues such as The Met (New York) and Queen Elizabeth Hall (London).
Diving deep into his archives of recordings, most recently for the new edition September 23rd, Basinski’s recent albums each call forth the memory echoes of faded times and places. This special event promises to captivate and immerse audiences with its otherworldly beauty, utilising the world-class acoustics of the Ian Potter Recital Hall.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience William Basinski's incredibly beautiful music in his only Tasmanian performance.

...sounds like a string quartet casting a hesitant, hopeful theme into the abyss of the unknown. Paradise may forever be lost, but this elegant elegy is worth many returns.
