About
The Gympie Rotary Heritage Makers Fair is a tribute to the vital heritage trades of the past, an inspiring celebration of the artisans that keep these almost-forgotten trades alive. This must-do event also presents a stunning showcase of traditional and contemporary quilting and diverse fibre and textile arts.
Over 75 demonstrating artisans, makers of heritage trades, will gather to inspire, share their passion and pass on their knowledge. Five onsite venues include: Heritage Lane, Woodcraft Arena, Domestic Arts, the Quilt & Craft Spectacular and Wheelwright Shows!
Meet the forgers: blacksmiths, coppersmith, glassworker, tinsmith, silver & gemsmiths; the Woodies: master carvers, turners, spoonsmiths, whittlers, luthers; meet the Weavers of cane, wheat, wool, lace, fibre; a master chandler, saddler, whipmaker, mosaic artists, leatherworkers, a leadlighter, signwriter, ropemaker, ceramicists - even a meadery. There are wheelwright shows, bushcraft shows, have-a-go activities - it’s a weekend filled with non-stop demos, vintage displays, artisan markets and lots of good old-fashioned camaraderie.
At its heart is the Club’s presitigious Quilt & Craft Spectacular, showcasing traditional, contemporary quilts and art quilts plus stunning artisan exhibits, demonstrations, workshops and over 45 diverse quilters/crafters/ artisan markets!
