About

Venture down the rabbit hole to Behind the Lines, the perennially popular exhibition of the year’s best political cartoons. After a topsy-turvy 2018, the theme this year is Curiouser and Curiouser, inspired by the surreal charm of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Did the political landscape of the last 12 months have you thinking you’d stepped through the looking glass to a world where nothing is as it seems? You’re not alone! Australia’s best political cartoonists worked tirelessly to make sense of the goings-on. Section 44 claiming more heads than the Queen of Hearts, Barnaby’s dramas and, of course, the federal leadership spill that gave the nation yet another new prime minister. Behind the Lines 2018 is a travelling exhibition, proudly supported by the National Collecting Institutions Touring and Outreach program, an Australian Government program aiming to improve access to the national collections for all Australians. (Excerpt from the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House) Entry Cost All tickets $0 - Adults AUD5; children under 16 AUD3; Friends of the Gallery and kids under five free.
