About

Words on the Waves is the first writers festival to take place on the Central Coast, and each year in June it offers an array of author talks, workshops, cinema screenings, literary cruises, book launches and more. In 2024, hundreds of Australia’s leading novelists, journalists and artists come together for fiery debate, brave histories and life-affirming stories. From politics to literature, historical fiction to memoir, there's something for everyone – past guests include cinema legend Bryan Brown, award-winning writers Charlotte Wood, Kate Forsythe, OzHarvest founder Ronni Kahn, Australian of the Year Rise Batty, MasterChef Julie Goodwin and YouTube's cooking sensational Nat's 'What I reckon,' and Children's Laureate Ursula Dubosarsky. There is even a free day of storytelling and book-inspired play for kids and their families. From a venue boasting 180 degree coastal views to a charming indie cinema, Words on the Waves is hosted at some of the region's most stunning locations, with one leading writer calling it 'the most beautiful literary festival in the world'. A full program of events and authors will be released in April 2025, with tickets going on sale at the same time. Join them for an enriching experience of ideas and stories you won't forget. Book early through the website as some of the well-known author events sell out quickly. Entry Cost All tickets $5 - Under 2 free
