Italian Medieval Banquet

A recreation of authentic medieval-era dishes from Paolo’s ancient home region of Ciociaria in central Italy for a truly unique cultural dining experience. Celebrate Christmas in July in Carcoar this winter! Paolo has painstakingly researched this menu to present original dishes from the medieval era. You’ll notice the absence of potato and tomato, which weren’t introduced to Italy until after the 1500s. Primo Frutta secca con formaggi misti - dried fruit and selection of hard cheeses Secondo Frittata alle Erbe - traditional fried herb omelette Zuppa povera con fagioli e ceci - soup of the poor with beans and chickpeas served with fried bread Terzo Maiale arrosto con cavolo verzato, olive, cipolla e salsa allo zafferano - roast rolled spiced pork with purple cabbage, olives and onions and a saffron sauce. Dolce Ricotta di capra con miele e nocciole abbinate con ciambellino al vino - locally-sourced goat’s milk ricotta with honey and hazelnuts served with sugared wine biscuits. Finale Ippocrasso - a traditional medieval warmed spiced wine. Places limited to 12 guests at a time due to current restrictions. Book early to avoid missing out!
